The files explain how to replicate the results of the above paper. The paper relies on two sources of data:
(i) Household survey data from the 1997 WMS and 2006 KIHBS, conducted by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS). While the KNBS terms and conditions explicitly prohibit us from distributing the raw data directly, both data sets are publicly available through the KNBS web site. (ii) Standardized test scores from the KCPE exam.
Availability and Acknowledgements
This data is made available by the Centre for the Study of African Economies at the University of Oxford. Permission for use of the data for academic research is given by the Centre. We would ask that the use of the data, its sources, and the financing for the surveys be acknowledged.
